Coutinho Earns Aston Villa Draw Against ManU
Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa fought back from two goals down to draw a tense Premier League match with Manchester United at Villa Park. Philippe Coutinho scored a late equaliser on his Aston Villa debut.
Bruno Fernandes hammered home his second goal of the game off the underside of the bar as Coutinho was set to be brought by Villa manager Gerrard midway through the second half.
The Brazilian, on the other hand, was the spark for a memorable response. First, he drove towards United’s defense, helping to create the space that Jacob Ramsey took advantage of to cut the lead in half.
Then Ramsey slipped in a fantastic cross from the left that Raphael Varane couldn’t intercept as he moved back, allowing Coutinho to finish into an empty net.
Emiliano Martinez ran into the crowd in relief after the score, as it was the Argentine’s terrible sixth-minute blunder that had handed Fernandes the visitors’ first.
