Burkina Faso Beat Cape Verde To Revive Afcon Hopes

In Thursday’s second Group A encounter at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Burkina Faso fought their way to a 1-0 victory over Cape Verde.

The Stallions needed to win after losing their first match against the hosts, and they did it with a narrow victory thanks to Hassane Bande’s 40th-minute goal.

Cameroon leads the group after defeating Ethiopia, while Burkina Faso and Cape Verde are tied for third place with three points. After Bertrand Traore’s positive Covid test, the Burkinabe were without him.

Burkina Faso’s improved performance offers them a good chance of making the last 16, and a win over pointless Ethiopia on Monday will put them second in the group if Cape Verde loses to Cameroon.

Cameroon has two victories out of two in the group and has already qualified for the next round as one of the top third-placed runners-up.
