Four players from Paris Saint-Germain have tested positive for Covid-19. Lionel Messi is one of them.
A day before PSG’s French Cup encounter against fourth-tier side Vannes, the Argentine forward and teammates Juan Bernat, Nathan Bitumazala, and Sergio Rico were confirmed to have Covid.
The foursome has been described as isolated.
Messi remained in Argentina for the winter break, according to PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino, and would not go unless he tested negative.
Pochettino claimed he couldn’t put a timeline on Messi’s return during a pre-match press conference on Sunday.
PSG will play Lyon on Sunday, January 9th, in their first league game following the winter break in 2022.
Forward Neymar will miss that match as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury in Brazil. PSG say the 29-year-old is expected to return to training in three weeks.
