BBL: Mohammad Hasnain Inspires Sydney Thunder Win Over Adelaide Strikers

Posted by

On his Big Bash debut, Mohammad Hasnain captured three wickets in four deliveries to lead Sydney Thunder to a 28-run victory over Adelaide Strikers.

The 21-year-old Pakistani fast bowler dismissed Matthew Short, Jake Weatherald, and Jono Wells to reduce the Strikers to 25-3 in their chase for 173.

The Thunder had earlier posted 172-7 at the Sydney Showground, with Matt Gilkes scoring 93 from 57 balls.

The Melbourne Stars were defeated by the Perth Scorchers by 50 runs earlier in the day. After a Covid outbreak in the Stars team, which has swelled to ten players and eight support staff, the game was postponed until December 30.

Sydney Thunder go third, while Adelaide Strikers remain seventh, above only Melbourne Renegades.

Meanwhile, the six players taking part in the Big Bash that have been selected for England’s T20 series in the West Indies have been asked to return to the UK by 7 January.
