Tottenham resumed their campaign for a Premier League top-four spot with a last-gasp triumph against struggling Watford at Vicarage Road thanks to Davinson Sanchez’s 96th-minute winner.

As Antonio Conte continued his unblemished league start with Spurs, who ascended to fifth place in the table, defender Sanchez headed in from Son Heung-cross. min’s

Son Heung-min was denied at close range by Hornets goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann in the second half, after Lloris had made an equally great stop from Josh King at the opposite end.

After Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris sprinted out of his goal to deny Joao Pedro, his late penalty request was denied.

A medical incident in the audience caused the game to be delayed in the closing moments, resulting in eight minutes of stoppage time.

Tottenham closed the gap on fourth-placed Arsenal to two points, despite having played two fewer games than their north London rivals, after the Gunners were defeated 2-1 by Manchester City earlier on Saturday.

Watford are now 17th in the Premier League, two points above the bottom three, and have played two games more than Burnley, who are directly behind them.
