Jason Kenny, a seven-time Olympic gold medalist, has been knighted, while his wife Laura, a five-time Olympic champion, has been named a dame in the New Year Honours list.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Jason, 33, became the most successful British Olympian, while Laura, 29, was named the joint most decorated female athlete for Team GB. Emma Raducanu, the US Open champion, receives an MBE, while swimmer Adam Peaty receives an OBE.

Tom Daley has been awarded an OBE for his services to diving and LGBTQ+ rights. Daley, who has been a household name since he first walked on an Olympic diving board at the age of 14, eventually won an Olympic medal in Japan at his fourth Games.

He won the synchronised 10m platform event alongside Matty Lee, who is now an MBE.

Daley, a three-time world and five-time European champion, is also known for his philanthropic efforts and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights.

“Being an OBE I feel it’s almost a responsibility to make the whole Commonwealth a better place for LGBT people, for women, for people of colour, to make it a more inclusive and more accepting environment,” he said.
