Chelsea are keen to find a left-back replacement after Ben Chilwell was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury he received against Juventus last month that requires surgery.
Emerson, an Italy international, was deemed surplus to requirements in the summer and was granted a one-year loan to Ligue 1 side Lyon in August.
However, according to L’Equipe via Get French Football News, the Blues attempted to bring the 27-year-old back from his suspension early, but were denied by the French club.
