Two of England’s support staff and two traveling family members tested positive for Covid-19 on the morning of the second day of the third Ashes Test. After one member of the family tested positive, testing was instituted in England.

Despite the fact that all players tested negative, play at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was delayed by 30 minutes. Cricket Australia later confirmed that another member of the family had tested positive, as had two members of England’s support crew.

The game was supposed to commence at 23:30 GMT, but England had to wait for their test results before leaving their hotel.

On Monday, they will be subjected to PCR tests.
In a statement sent shortly before play, Cricket Australia confirmed the four positive tests.

“The entire playing group and all other support staff have all tested negative this morning,” a CA statement read.

“England will also have PCR tests today, and both teams will take extra precautions throughout play.
