After Harry Kane scored his second goal in as many Premier League games to launch Tottenham’s triumph against Crystal Palace, manager Antonio Conte admitted it will be “tough” to rotate him.

Kane scored the first goal, and Lucas Moura increased their advantage. Spurs’ third goal, scored by Son Heung-min, clinched the victory.

Before December 19, the England captain had only scored once in the league, but goals against Liverpool and Palace in back-to-back league games impressed Spurs’ Italian manager.

“I always say we are talking about a top-class striker and a player that for us is very important,” Conte told BBC Sport.

“Today I had the possibility to give him a bit of rest and for him to play only 60 minutes was important. Kane is a player it is very difficult to decide to put in a rotation.”

Conte substituted Kane just after the hour mark, with fixtures against Southampton and Watford coming up in the next six days.
