Jorginho Double As Chelsea Beat Gerrard’s Aston Villa

Chelsea came back from a goal down to overcome Aston Villa and draw level on points with second-placed Liverpool after Jorginho scored two penalties.

In the 28th minute, Villa took a fortunate lead when Chelsea defender Reece James received Matt Targett’s whipping cross from the left and his glancing header redirected the ball past Edouard Mendy and into the net for an own goal.

Chelsea leveled six minutes later when Jorginho converted a penalty after Callum Hudson-Odoi was hauled down in the 18-yard box by Matty Cash’s reckless challenge.

Chelsea’s first win in three Premier League meetings puts them in third place, six points behind champions Manchester City and behind Liverpool on goal differential.
