Joe Root Puts Everything On The Line For England In Adelaide During The Ashes

Joe Root is accustomed to carrying England on his shoulders, but in the second Ashes Test, the captain placed his team’s future on the line.

At the start of the fourth day in Adelaide, Root’s team was already in trouble, but the skipper was smacked in the groin while warming up, despite not wearing a box.

He missed more than an hour of the opening session due to a scan, but returned to capture two wickets with his off-breaks.

Then, late in the day, with England batting to salvage the match, Root was hit again, this time by a 90mph delivery from Mitchell Starc of Australia.
