Ifan Phillips: Ospreys Hooker Reveals He Had Leg Amputation…

Ifan Phillips, an Ospreys hooker, has revealed that he had a leg amputated after a road traffic tragedy earlier this month involving two motorcycles.

Phillips received “life-changing injuries” as a result of the attack, which occurred in Swansea on December 5th, according to police.

“It was not feasible to preserve my leg,” Phillips wrote on social media. The 25-year-old says he hopes to receive a prosthetic leg and is determined to stay “active.”

Phillips, the son of legendary Neath and Wales hooker Kevin, played 40 games for the Ospreys and spent the summer training with the Wales squad.

Phillips’ recovery has so far raised more than £58,000 thanks to a crowdsourcing campaign set up to assist him. Following Phillips’ social media statement, the Ospreys have reiterated their support for him.

Toby Booth, the area’s head coach, and scrum-half Rhys Webb, earlier stated that the region will do everything possible to help Phillips.

“Now that I’m home from hospital and spirits are high, I’d like to say a few words,” Phillips wrote on Instagram.

“Firstly, I’d like to thank everyone for your support over the last few days. It honestly means so much to me and my family.
