Despite his dissatisfaction with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Max Verstappen believes Lewis Hamilton has every reason to return to Formula One next year.
Toto Wolff, the head of Mercedes F1, claimed on Thursday that Hamilton was “disillusioned” and that he couldn’t guarantee he’d return next year.
“I understand the first few days after a race like that you’re not happy,” Verstappen stated.
“However, you must keep in mind that this is a race, and anything can happen.”
Verstappen believes Hamilton should reflect on what he has accomplished in Formula One and what he may do in the future.
“He should just look back at what he’s already accomplished,” said the Red Bull driver, who overtook Hamilton for the championship on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi race after a contentious safety-car period.
