Roma Humbled By Inter As Mourinho Suffer Worst Defeat Of His Career

Jose Mourinho had a bad evening against one of his previous clubs, as Inter Milan, who are in fine form, humiliated his Roma squad.

Inter dominated the first half, with Hakan Calhanoglu opening the scoring with a direct header from a corner. Before Denzel Dumfries headed home, Edin Dzeko completed a wonderful play to make it 2-0.

Inter cruised to a victory that moves them to second place in Serie A, despite the absence of suspended England forward Tammy Abraham.

AC Milan, who beat Salernitana 2-0 on Saturday, are a point ahead of Simone Inzaghi’s side and the league leaders. After their seventh loss in 15 games, Roma sit in fifth place with 25 points, six points behind fourth-placed Atalanta.

Along with Manchester United’s 3-0 Premier League loss against Tottenham at Old Trafford on August 27, 2018, Saturday’s outcome is Mourinho’s greatest home defeat as a manager.

It also means Roma has lost as many as 16 Serie A games in a calendar year for the first time since 1950, when they lost 20.
