After his Rangers squad trounced Dundee to move seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, Giovanni van Bronckhorst lauded his players’ “passion.”
Joe Aribo scored on a deflection in the first half, but Ryan Sweeney put the midfielder’s cross into his own net after the break. With 20 minutes left, Alfredo Morelos scored the third goal.
“Even at 3-0 up we were still looking for the fourth goal, that is the desire we need in games,” said the manager. N”I am very happy with the performance and of course, happy with the points.”
And if it hadn’t been for a succession of saves by visiting goalie Adam Legzdins, it could have been a far more convincing result.
Van Bronckhorst’s side has won four games in a row, putting pressure on Celtic as their second-placed city rivals host Dundee United on Sunday.
Dundee’s 14th successive defeat at Ibrox has dropped them to fourth from bottom, but they have now played one more game than the three teams behind them.
