Rafael Benitez has 14 Merseyside derbies under his belt from his time on the red side of the Liverpool split, but his first as Everton manager on Wednesday could be the most crucial of his career.
Benitez, 61, will become the first manager to oversee both Merseyside clubs in a derby since 1894, though that achievement is unlikely to be on his mind as his Everton side enters the game on a losing streak.
After a 1-0 loss at Brentford on Sunday, the Toffees are winless in seven Premier League games and have slid to 14th in the table.
At the final whistle, the fans voiced their displeasure, and bookmakers have Benitez – who was only appointed in June – as the favorite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.
