Palace 1-2 Villa: Steven Gerrard Continues Perfect Start To Life As Premier League Manager

Posted by

As a footballer, Steven Gerrard had the upper hand over Patrick Vieira. It’s still going on in the Premier League’s management.

Gerrard won the first touchline battle between the two top-flight greats, continuing his winning start as Villa manager.

When they met as players, he defeated Vieira seven times, with the Frenchman winning only three of their 13 encounters.

Gerrard won 1-0 against Vieira thanks to a rare strike from Matt Targett and a stunning second from John McGinn now that they are the bosses.

This game lacked the quality that the two managers possessed in their playing days until McGinn sealed the three points with four minutes left. Gerrard, on the other hand, would not have been concerned.

A second three points to add to his first victory over Brighton would have been his only priority, and Villa got them to pull level on points with Palace at 13 each.
