Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland became the youngest player in German Bundesliga history with 50 goals in a win against Wolfsburg. After coming on for his 50th Bundesliga appearance, the Norwegian, who is 21 years and 129 days old, scored a late volley.
Before an Emre Can penalty and a Donyell Malen goal, Wolfsburg had taken the lead through Wout Weghorst. Dortmund momentarily took the lead, but Bayern Munich defeated Arminia Bielefeld 1-0 to reclaim the top spot.
Bayern Munich broke a 44-year record with a well-hit attempt from outside the area by Leroy Sane. In 2021, they have scored 102 Bundesliga goals, surpassing Cologne’s previous high of 101 in 1977.
Haaland scored his 10th goal for Dortmund in just seven games this season, which had been cut short by a hip flexor muscle injury that had kept him out since mid-October.
It was a nice finale to a week that saw Dortmund lose 3-1 to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Wednesday. Dortmund moved up to 30 points, one point behind champions Bayern Munich, with their sixth win in the previous seven league games.
