On the second day of the Davis Cup, world number one Novak Djokovic required only one hour to overcome Denis Novak and lead Serbia to a 3-0 victory over Austria.
Serbia has an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match tie after Djokovic defeated Novak 6-3 6-2. Dusan Lajovic had began the Group F clash with a tenacious 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 7-5 victory over Gerald Melzer earlier in the day.
To end the tie, Nikola Cacic and Filip Krajinovic defeated Philipp Oswald and Oliver Marach 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 6-3.
On the second day of the competition, defending champions Spain and Italy both won.
Djokovic, who hasn’t lost a Davis Cup singles rubber since 2011, looked unstoppable against Novak, who is ranked 110th.
He didn’t face a break point and only missed six points on serve in the second set, which he finished in 28 minutes in Innsbruck.
Djokovic is expected to return to action on Saturday when Serbia takes on Germany, while US Open winner Daniil Medvedev will play for the Russian Tennis Federation against Ecuador.
