Sporting Lisbon defeated 10-man Borussia Dortmund to advance to the Champions League knockout stage at the cost of the German team.
Sporting wanted to improve on their 1-0 loss in the opposite fixture, and they did so in the first half, thanks to two Pedro Goncalves goals.
Emre Can was then dismissed following a scuffle with Pedro Porro off the ball.
When Goncalves’ penalty was saved late in the game, he missed out on a hat-trick chance, but Porro pounced and scored.
Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel saved Goncalves’ shot, only for Porro, on loan from Manchester City, to head in and seal the victory nine minutes later.
In extra time, Donyell Malen scored for the visitors, but it was not enough to keep them out of the Europa League.
