The Davis Cup Finals will be held in Abu Dhabi for the next five years.
At a board meeting next week in Madrid, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) is expected to approve Kosmos as one of its investment partners. However, the move has not gone over well with players, with several privately stating that they will not be willing to fly to the Middle East thus late in the year.
The 2022 Davis Cup Finals in Abu Dhabi might last up to 12 days and take place at numerous sites. The event would not end until early December, clashing with the World Cup in nearby Qatar the following year.
The group stages of this year’s Finals, which start on Thursday, will take place in three countries. Turin, Innsbruck, and Madrid are the locations, with Madrid hosting the final five days as part of the staging agreement’s final year.
In 2018, the ITF and Kosmos, which was created by Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique, announced a 25-year collaboration worth $3 billion (£2.25 billion).
