Former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has been contacted by Manchester United for the post of interim manager.
Valverde, 57, is one of a few possible interim managers until United hires a permanent manager at the end of the season. United are looking for an interim manager to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
They believe that bringing in Mauricio Pochettino, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, as soon as possible may not be as simple as has been indicated.
Pochettino, the former Tottenham manager, stated on Tuesday that he is “very pleased” at PSG and that rumors about the United job will not deter him.
Valverde fits the mold of a seasoned coach who may not expect to be hired on a permanent basis following his interim spell.
Before being ousted in January 2020, the Spaniard was the manager of Barcelona, where he led them to consecutive La Liga titles and the 2018 Copa del Rey.
