After Defeating South Africa, England Must Remain Grounded, According To Danny Care
Danny Care believes England should take their win against South Africa on Saturday as a stepping stone to the next level. Marcus Smith’s last-minute penalty gave England a one-point victory over the world champions at Twickenham.
“It was an incredibly exciting performance but, without putting a dampener on it, they could easily have lost,” Care told Rugby Union Weekly.
“It is key we don’t go over the top now, there is a lot of growth to be done in this team.”
The hosts won their previous home match against South Africa by a single point in November 2018, but the Springboks were significantly more powerful in a 32-12 triumph in the Rugby World Cup final 12 months later.
“England could have easily lost that game,” Care, who earned his 84th England cap in 2018, said of the teams’ most recent meeting.
