At Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson used to wait until the weather shifted and it was raining in the autumn before calling on Michael Carrick.
‘When Michael first arrived, he was always a slow starter,’ Ferguson recalls. ‘In September and October, the rain started, and he really came into his own.’
After the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United have resorted to Carrick.
Carrick will be the caretaker manager, who will be replaced by an interim manager, who will be replaced by a permanent manager at the start of next season if the club sticks to their plan. Keep going.
