Following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by Old Trafford officials on Sunday, Conor McGregor, a huge Manchester United supporter and UFC legend, led the social media backlash.
Despite his team’s poor form on the pitch, the Norwegian was relieved of his duties following an embarrassing 4-1 loss at Watford on Saturday, and fans praised him as a “club great.”
And McGregor, an avid United supporter, praised the former striker on Twitter, writing: ‘I want to give a major shout out, and a huge thank you to the living legend that is Ole Gunnar Solskjr!’
For some weeks, United supporters have been demanding for Solskjaer’s dismissal, and while they praised the Norwegian’s performance since taking over in late 2018, they believed he was unfit to lead the club forward.
‘Thanks for the rebuild, but you just weren’t that guy, regrettably,’ one fan tweeted.
