Cameron Norrie’s incredible season came to an end at the ATP Finals in Turin, when he was beaten 6-2, 6-1 by Novak Djokovic.
Following injuries to Matteo Berrettini and Stefanos Tsitsipas, the British No. 1 received entry for the Finals as a second alternate after 50 match wins, a maiden ATP victory in Indian Wells, and a rise to 12th in the world.
Casper Ruud’s defeat destroyed any hopes of reaching the semi-finals, and with Djokovic already through, the round-robin round came to a halt. If anyone doubted Djokovic’s commitment, he proved them wrong by winning the first set in just 28 minutes.
Norrie had his moments, too, with a pair of scorching passing strokes and a second-half break point. However, he was left with no doubt about the disparity in class between the world No. 1 and the rest of the field.
