Josh Adams and Aaron Wainwright, both on the wing for Wales, have recovered from injuries and will play in Saturday’s Autumn Nations Series match against Australia.
Adams was removed from Wales’ win against Fiji last Sunday soon before kick-off owing to a calf muscle injury, while Wainwright was unable to play due to a shoulder condition. Tomas Francis, a prop, has completed concussion return-to-play protocols and has been recalled. Seb Davies replaces Will Rowlands, who suffered a head injury in the match against Fiji.
Willis Halaholo, who tested positive for coronavirus last month and will make his first appearance of the autumn series, is another starter. In midfield, Cardiff’s Halaholo will partner Saracens’ Nick Tompkins, with Scarlets’ Jonathan Davies missing out.
The Wales head coach, Wayne Pivac, has confirmed that the decision to omit Davies was tactical, part of a plan to assess new players before the Six Nations. “I had a good chat with Jonathan. We know about him,” Pivac said. “We wanted to see Willis and learn about him.”
