Rangers are on the approach of announcing Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new manager, with the club optimistic that a deal would be completed by Thursday. Rangers executives met with the 46-year-old on Tuesday in Amsterdam to negotiate conditions after an initial meeting in London on Saturday.
Following Steven Gerrard’s departure to Aston Villa last week after three years in charge, the Scottish Premiership champions have been looking for a new head coach. Van Bronckhorst, a former Rangers player who led Feyenoord from 2015 to 2019 and was most recently the head coach of Guangzhou City, is seen to be the club’s top contender for the position.
Ross Wilson, Rangers’ sporting director, has been in charge of discussions, and it is understood that both the club and Van Bronckhorst are pleased with how things are going, with a deal approaching.
