Tyson Fury Was In ‘Unbearable Pain’ During Deontay Wilder Fight

Tyson Fury’s father has revealed that his son was “very badly injured” prior to his knockout victory against Deontay Wilder last month and has subsequently undergone elbow surgery to rectify the problem.

Tyson underwent cortisone injections in both elbows and a six-hour operation to remove bone spurs, according to John Fury of BT Sport.

“Tyson was very badly injured going into that fight,” John Fury told BT Sport. “He was handicapped from the beginning. It wasn’t a boxing match, was it?”

Fury, 33, outlasted Wilder in a thrilling fight in Las Vegas that was more competitive than many had anticipated but ended as most had predicted, with the Briton outboxing the American to retain his lineal title. Fury knocked out Wilder in the third round and twice in the fourth before roaring back with knockdowns in rounds 10 and 11, including a powerful right hand that sent the American face-first on the canvas.
