Everton’s director of medical services, Danny Donachie, is said to have left the club, with Rafa Benitez dissatisfied with important player injuries.
Due to a thigh ailment, Benitez has been without Dominic Calvert-Lewin since August, and he has also been without the services of Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and Andre Gomes.
Everton has now placed Donachie on leave while his exit is formalised, according to The Athletic, with Benitez wanting to boost the club’s off-field services.
In July, the first-team coach hired James Harley as head of sports science, and Cristian Fernandez as a fitness rehabilitation coach in October.
During his time at Newcastle United, Benitez worked with both of them.
‘He (Delph) has been working with the new rehabilitation coach and came in stronger,’ Benitez said of Delph’s work with Fernandez over the weekend.
