As tensions between Thomas Tuchel and rival manager Sean Dyche grew, he claimed ‘lucky’ Burnley had nicked a point in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
After a strong challenge from Clarets skipper Ben Mee on Ross Barkley went unpunished, Tuchel was courageous enough to speak at the imposing Burnley boss during the first half.
Even though both managers tried to downplay the incident later, it contributed to the excitement of a tense match that saw Burnley sub Matej Vydra cancel out Kai Havertz’s opener.
Chelsea had 25 shots on goal and squandered numerous opportunities to win. ‘They (Burnley) were really lucky,’ Tuchel claims. That’s how football works. At Brentford, we were fortunate. That is why the game is so popular.
