Newcastle Earn Draw In Front Of Howe As Dunk Finishes In Goal For Brighton

As possible new manager Eddie Howe watched from the stands, Newcastle came back to earn a point at Brighton in the Premier League.

Howe sat alongside Magpies part-owner Amanda Staveley and allowed himself a brief flash of emotion when Isaac Hayden equalized from Ciaran Clark’s downward header, with Howe’s appointment likely soon.

Newcastle’s performance, on the other hand, will have simply served to remind him of the magnitude of the task ahead of him at a club that has yet to win a Premier League game this season.

While the visitors should be commended for maintaining to their defensive structure, they were disjointed in possession and provided little in attack, save for Hayden’s attempt.

The hosts had to wait out a tense last few minutes of stoppage time when central defender Lewis Dunk took over in goal.

Newcastle are 19th in the table, level on points with bottom club Norwich, after drawing three of their last four away matches.
