Pep Guardiola is taking ‘Fergie Time’ into account as he prepares for the Manchester derby at Old Trafford this weekend.
United, City’s arch-rivals, face the champions in the Premier League on Saturday, fresh off a stoppage-time equalizer against Atalanta in midweek.
Cristiano Ronaldo was their hero at the death for the second time this season, having scored a last-gasp goal against Villarreal in September.
It brought back memories of the club’s never-say-die attitude during Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.
Assessing the threat posed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United, Guardiola said: “I’m pretty sure they are going to press man-to-man up front and defend deeper.
“(We have to) be ready in the last minutes of the first half and the second half. I’m pretty sure they will call Sir Alex Ferguson to install the ‘Fergie Time’, because I think it’s going to happen.”
