Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed claims that Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival has harmed his team.
Ronaldo, 36, joined United from Juventus in the summer and has nine goals in 14 appearances so far this season.
“He’s one of the best players that has ever walked on this planet,” said Solskjaer. “His impact so far has been absolutely immense. He scores goals, he works for his team. He’s a top professional.”
Ronaldo scored the opening goal in United’s 3-0 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday, as the Old Trafford club rebounded back from a 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool.
In Tuesday’s thrilling 2-2 Champions League group draw against Atalanta, the Portugal captain scored two equalizers, the second in injury time at the finish.
On Saturday (1230 GMT), United will host Manchester City in an attempt to put the “sad moment” of the Liverpool defeat behind them.
