Mason Greenwood asked not to be considered for selection by England during the first half of the season, and Jude Bellingham wanted to be stepped down last month, according to Gareth Southgate.
Bellingham has been included in England manager Gareth Southgate’s squad for this month’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino. Southgate is frustrated that Callum Hudson-Odoi has again refused an under-21 call-up.

After returning from injury, Southgate has called up Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harry Maguire, and Marcus Rashford, but he has left out Jadon Sancho, Jesse Lingard, Kieran Trippier, Fikayo Tomori, and Ollie Watkins.
Southgate gave Greenwood his senior debut as a substitute against Iceland in September of last year, but he was sent home with Phil Foden after they invited two women to the team hotel in violation of Covid restrictions.
