Manchester City have already decided on Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City to succeed Pep Guardiola.
According to Jonathan Northcroft of the Sunday Times, who spoke with Duncan Castles on the current episode of the Transfer Window podcast, this is the case.
Guardiola’s future has been called into question several times throughout his tenure at City, with the manager himself implying that he has a timetable in mind. He has never held a job for more than four years before.
Guardiola, on the other hand, signed a contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the 2022/23 season, making this his penultimate season in charge. City, it appears, has already lined up a replacement for him.
“Manchester City have been working on Brendan Rodgers for years. He’s been on their list for years,” Northcroft said. “He (Rodgers) knows that they like him, they let him know that they like him on the basis that if we ever come to change Pep Guardiola, or when Pep leaves, we’d be interested in you.”
