‘Great Ambition’: Harry Kane Throws Support Behind Conte In Boost For Spurs

Tottenham’s selection of Antonio Conte, who replaces the ousted Nuno Esprito Santo, has been characterized as a display of enormous desire by Harry Kane, who has thrown his support behind the new manager.

Kane has had a well-documented period of doubt about the club’s ability to achieve his objectives, which peaked this summer when he attempted and failed to force a move to Manchester City.

During Nuno’s 17-game tenure, including his time on England duty, when he could have been expected to do so as captain, the 28-year-old has mostly kept his thoughts on the transfer drama to himself and did not talk to the press.

On Thursday, after Conte’s first Spurs game — a tense 3-2 Europa League home win over Vitesse – he broke his silence to express his optimism and enthusiasm for the new project.

“It shows great ambition, to be honest,” Kane said of Conte’s appointment. “His résumé speaks for itself. Everyone knows how highly thought of he is and what he has done as a manager in the game. You have to respect that. We have a manager and a club that believe in us and this appointment definitely shows that.
