Sancho Dropped By England As Rashford And Alexander-Arnold Return

Posted by

Gareth Southgate has left Jadon Sancho out of England’s squad for the final World Cup qualifiers, but Marcus Rashford, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harry Maguire, and Jude Bellingham have been included.

Sancho’s poor form and lack of game time for Manchester United have finally caught up with him, despite his selection last month. Jesse Lingard, Ollie Watkins, Kieran Trippier, and Fikayo Tomori are all out of the games against Albania and San Marino.

Sancho has no goals or assists in 12 appearances for United in all competitions. Maguire’s club form has been bad as well, but he has returned after missing recent internationals due to injury. After recuperating from shoulder surgery, Rashford is selected for the first time since Euro 2020, while Reece James is also back after being forced to withdraw from the previous team.
