Man City Seal Easy Win Over Club Bruges

Manchester City beat Club Bruges 3-0 at Etihad Stadium, with Raheem Sterling scoring his first goal in a 12-game drought.

Sterling scored for the second time this season, converting Ilkay Gundogan’s cutback for his first Champions League goal in almost a year.

Pep Guardiola’s players were regaining form after consecutive defeats by West Ham and Crystal Palace, with Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez both completing close range Joao Cancelo crosses either side of the interval, and Gabriel Jesus curling a shot into the far corner with the final ball of the game.

Guardiola was so sure in his team’s triumph that he brought on all five substitutes long before the final whistle, including 19-year-old forward Cole Palmer, who forced former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to make an incredible late save.

By the time the final whistle blew, City fans’ thoughts had already turned to Saturday’s noon visit to Manchester United, where they had only lost twice in eight visits during Guardiola’s tenure.
