C’Ronaldo Rescues ManU At Atlanta

Manchester United were held to a draw by Atalanta thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s dramatic late strike, keeping them top of Champions League Group F.

The 36-year-old, who had also equalized in first-half extra time, volleyed home from outside the box in added time to earn United a vital point in Bergamo.

At a raucous Gewiss Stadium, Josip Ilicic opened the score with a low attempt that slipped past David de Gea, and Atalanta felt Duvan Zapata’s 56th-minute shot had won it.

Following a fantastic Bruno Fernandes back-heel, Ronaldo concluded a wonderful move by blasting past goalkeeper Juan Musso for his first goal, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had been on the back foot for much of the first half.

United were also second best after the break, but Ronaldo, who scored a late winner against Villarreal and in the reverse fixture, came through with a crucial goal to retain United in first place moving into the remaining two group games.
