After suffering chest problems against Alaves on Saturday, Barcelona has confirmed that Sergio Aguero will be out for three months. After becoming ill, the ex-Manchester City striker, 33, had cardiological tests in hospital. Aguero will now be treated and his health will be monitored.

“The effectiveness of treatment will be reviewed over the next three months in order to determine his recovery progress,” the club said. Aguero was treated on the field for several minutes before being brought to the hospital.

Aguero stated he was “healthy and in excellent spirits to confront the recuperation process” on social media. After suffering an injury in pre-season, the former Manchester City striker was making only his second appearance for Barcelona.

After a 10-year tenure at City, when he became the club’s all-time greatest scorer with 260 goals in 390 games, he joined the Spanish giants on a two-year agreement in the summer.

Sergi Barjuan, the interim coach for Barcelona, stated before the club’s Champions League encounter against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday: “I spoke with him, and he appeared to be in good spirits. He’s confined to his room, yet despite the circumstances, he’s composed.”
