Chelsea and Newcastle United have apparently been alerted to the potential of signing Eden Hazard in January, with the Belgian attacker supposedly battling for playing time at the Bernabeu.
Hazard, 30, has struggled to reach the heights that drew Madrid to pay £89 million for him two years ago, with performance-based bonuses pushing the total to £150 million.
Injuries, however, have hampered the former Chelsea striker’s progress in Madrid, where he has only five goals in 52 appearances in all competitions.
Hazard’s future at Real Madrid was slammed this week by Carlo Ancelotti, who told the Belgian to ‘put up’ with the fact that he is at the bottom of the pecking order.
‘He has everything, but he has to put up with the situation,’ Ancelotti said in a statement to Spanish media. ‘Right now, he’s working with a coach who prefers to work with other players.’
According to ESPN, a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle, have been contacted about the 30-year-interest old’s in signing him in January.
