Daniel Kretinsky, a Czech billionaire, is in talks with West Ham about buying a minority position in the club. David Sullivan and David Gold, the co-owners, have been seeking investment for several years but have rejected down proposals to sell outright.

Kretinsky has been in talks with the company for the past 12 months, and it is anticipated that the 46-year-old could buy a big stake in the company, estimated to be around 27 percent. According to sources, a transaction would not inevitably result in Kretinsky buying out Sullivan and Gold.

Kretinsky is the co-owner and president of Sparta Prague, and is renowned as the “Czech sphinx” for his enigmatic business style. He is a qualified lawyer with a variety of other investments, including Royal Mail, Sainsbury’s, and the French newspaper Le Monde.
