After a day off following their humiliation at the hands of Liverpool, Manchester United players and staff returned to work on Tuesday morning.
The Red Devils were humiliated by Jurgen Klopp’s team at Old Trafford, losing 5-0 and putting manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under enormous strain.
Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, and the rest of the team arrived for training less than 48 hours after that nightmare. On his arrival at the Carrington training camp, the club’s Director of Football, John Murtough, grinned and waved to the camera.
In the aftermath of the unexpected loss, Cristiano Ronaldo issued a rallying cry to his teammates, captain Harry Maguire apologized to the supporters, goalkeeper David de Gea chastised his teammates for a ‘awful performance,’ and defender Shaw said the players, not their manager, are to blame.
With no Premier League win since September 19, the pressure on Solskjaer has mounted in recent weeks, and talk about his future has only grown with Sunday’s defeat.
