Marseille and Paris St-Germain drew an entertaining match that included several major VAR rulings and multiple delays due to crowd disturbance.
The game had to be stopped in both half because home supporters threw bottles at Neymar as he attempted to take a corner. While the corner was being taken on both occasions, security personnel deployed plastic shields to block the missiles.
In the second half, a pitch invader ran onto the pitch and placed his hands on Lionel Messi’s back. The video assistant referee (VAR) ruled both goals out, and PSG’s Achraf Hakimi was sent out for a professional foul on Cengiz Under.
A laser shined into the referee’s face as he conferred with the VAR staff about the red card judgment. The VAR ruled both Luan Peres’ own goal from Neymar’s pass and Arkadiusz Milik’s score for Marseille in the first half as offside.
Messi, who has yet to score in Ligue 1, hit the crossbar, resulting in the first Neymar corner, and Marseille’s Konrad de la Fuente squandered a huge chance late on.
PSG is seven points ahead of Lens at the top of the table, having gone undefeated in 11 league games this season.
