As speculation about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future grows, Gary Neville feels Antonio Conte is “not the perfect fit” for Manchester United.
On Sunday, the Norwegian had his worst day at Old Trafford, when United were thrashed 5-0 at home by arch-rivals Liverpool.
The result has added to the pressure on the 48-year-old, who is now tipped to be the next Premier League manager to resign. It means that talk is already rife about who might fill a vacancy at the club if one arises.
Conte, the former Inter Milan and Chelsea manager, is one name that comes to mind. He has a track record of winning titles in both England and Italy.
However, Neville believes Conte would be the wrong choice for United, citing previous high-profile managers’ dismal reigns across Europe. ‘They won’t put a hitman in again,’ Neville stated on Sky Sports. A two-year hitman who comes in and does a job.
