Mohamed Salah has been dubbed “greedy” by Graeme Souness, who also described him as “the most selfish player I’ve ever seen.” Salah has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers since joining Liverpool in 2017, scoring 137 goals in 214 games for the Merseyside club.
Jurgen Klopp hailed the Egyptian as the “best player in the world” after 12 of those efforts at the start of the 2021-22 season, and Souness has now delivered his own view on a talismanic talent.
Salah’s single-mindedness in the final third is what sets him apart from his colleagues, according to the Anfield icon, who shared Klopp’s thoughts.
“I agree with Jurgen Klopp that Mohamed Salah has been the best player in the world this season,” Souness has written in his latest column for The Times.
“He is perhaps as greedy a player as I have seen. All the top names have an element of that but he is extremely selfish.
