After suffering an ankle injury in Chelsea’s Champions League win against Malmo, Romelu Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello believes his client could return sooner than expected.
Thomas Tuchel, who indicated before the game that Lukaku was mentally and physically exhausted after being “overplayed” on international duty, has confirmed that the striker, along with Timo Werner, will be sidelined “for a while” after suffering injuries in their 4-0 Group H victory.
Lukaku limped off and was replaced by Kai Havertz after hurting his ankle in a collision with Malmo’s Lasse Nielsen, which resulted in Jorginho’s penalty in the 21st minute.
Lukaku’s representative Pastorello told Sky Sports News: “I was very worried because Romelu is a player who really wants to play and the fact he stayed lying on the pitch so long after the penalty, it doesn’t look good to me because he is someone who immediately stands up, He has his physio at home so he is working hard every evening even before he goes to sleep so if there is a time to come back it will be earlier than planned.”
