Everton have been dealt a second injury blow in as many days when Dominic Calvert-recovery Lewin’s from a quadriceps ailment hit a snag.

The striker will be sidelined for a number of weeks, according to the club. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Abdoulaye Doucouré, the in-form midfielder, had injured his foot.

Calvert-Lewin has been absent for two months, having last played on August 28 against Brighton. Richarlison, another striker, may be able to play against Watford on Saturday as he heals from a knee injury.

Doucouré has been in fantastic form for Rafael Bentez’s club this season, but a fractured metatarsal will keep him out for a long time. The 28-year-old, who has two Premier League goals and four assists this season – only Paul Pogba has more – missed part of last season with a similar injury. Everton have stated that he will not require surgery.

Due to injuries, Bentez is still without his midfield options André Gomes and Fabian Delph.
