Helen Nkwocha Reflects On Her Role As A Major Player In European Coaching After Making History

Posted by

Helen Nkwocha may have created history as Europe’s first female head coach of a top-flight men’s team, but she doesn’t consider herself a trailblazer.

Nkwocha is the caretaker manager of Tvoroyrar Boltfelag in the Faroe Islands, who had already been relegated with only three points to their name.

The Faroese club, one of the country’s oldest, has entrusted the reins to Nkwocha, who believes her experience coaching kids has prepared her for the added scrutiny of guiding a senior men’s team.

“I don’t see myself as a trailblazer, but I do know that there is a different level of scrutiny,” Nkwocha told Sky Sports News.

“It is a wonderful opportunity that you have to get paid to do your hobby. As a coach that is great.
